As a consequence of the “Arab Spring,” the resilience of Arab monarchies in the face of political change has received attention in an unpredictable world. In this research project, we present the research question of how citizens accept the legitimacy which the monarch and government claims. Furthermore, we analyze the relationship between the monarch/ government and Islamist groups who have gained political power based on vast social activities, focusing on the rivalry in ideology, contestation, and cooperation in the process of real politics. Finally, we attempt to explore the mechanism for maintaining the resilience built in Arab monarchies.
